How to Launch Social Media Promotion: Where to Start

Social media promotion starts with a goal and a metric: how many leads you need and at what cost. Then pick one or two platforms, set up the profile, plan a month of content and run a small ad test.
In short
- First, a numeric goal: leads, sales or bookings, plus an acceptable cost per lead.
- One or two platforms at the start, chosen by audience.
- Set up the profile before ads: description, pinned posts, a link to enquire.
- A small ad test shows what works faster than organic posting.
- Reply to messages within an hour and review results weekly.
Step 1. What goal should you set?
State the goal as a number with a deadline: "30 renovation enquiries a month" or "200 class bookings a quarter". Add an acceptable cost per lead. Awareness and followers are intermediate metrics and do not measure business results.
Step 2. Who is your audience?
Describe 2–3 customer types: age, city, what they buy, what they ask before buying and what stops them. Your sales team and customer messages are the best source. These questions become your post topics and ad copy.
Step 3. What are competitors doing?
Look at 5–10 competitors: which platforms they use, which posts get reactions, which ads they run. Any page's ads are visible in the Meta Ad Library. The aim is to find what sets you apart and show it.
Step 4. Which platforms should you choose?
- Instagram: consumer products and services, visual niches.
- Facebook: audiences over 35, local businesses, lead forms.
- TikTok: younger audiences and products that look good in short video.
- Telegram: an expert channel and repeat customers.
- LinkedIn: B2B and hiring.
One or two platforms are enough at the start. Two run consistently bring more than five run in bursts.
Step 5. How should you set up the profile?
A clear name and avatar, a bio stating what you do, for whom and where, a link to an enquiry form or the site with UTM tags, and pinned posts or Stories covering services, prices or a guide, reviews and how to order. The profile is the landing page for your ads, so set it up before launch.
Step 6. How do you build a content plan?
Split topics into pillars: tips, behind the scenes, work and reviews, Q&A, sales posts. Plan a month ahead at a frequency your team can keep up. Short vertical video is the core on Instagram and TikTok; posts with photos work on Facebook and Telegram.
Step 7. How do you launch ads?
In Meta Ads Manager or TikTok Ads Manager, run a test: 2–3 audiences and 3–4 creatives on a small budget for 7–10 days. Optimise for leads or messages. Keep the combinations with the lowest cost per lead and scale their budget. Ads go live within a few working days after we get access and you approve the creatives.
Step 8. How do you handle messages and measure results?
Reply to direct messages within an hour during working hours: the longer people wait, the fewer sales you make. Log leads in a CRM (KeyCRM, HubSpot or Pipedrive) with the source. Track site visits in GA4 with UTM tags. Check lead count and cost weekly and sales monthly.
What should you prepare before launch?
Access to your pages and ad account through Meta Business Suite, photos and videos of products or work, answers to common customer questions, a way to take payment and a person who replies to messages. If you have a website, install GA4 and the Meta Pixel before ads go live.
Common mistakes at the start
- Five platforms at once and none run consistently.
- Ads pointing to an empty profile with no reviews or service details.
- Counting likes while leads go untracked.
- Slow replies to messages.

FAQ
Where do you start social media promotion from scratch?
With a numeric goal and an audience description. Then choose one or two platforms, set up the profile, plan a month of content and run an ad test.
What budget do I need to start?
It depends on the niche and city. A Meta test can start with a small budget over 7–10 days to see your cost per lead. We calculate the exact amount after a brief.
When will the first leads come?
With ads, in the first days after launch. Organic profile growth becomes noticeable after several months of regular posting.
How many posts a week?
Start with 3–5 posts a week plus Stories. Consistency matters more than volume.
Can I promote on social media without ads?
Yes, but growth is slower. A small ad budget quickly shows which topics and audiences bring leads.
