In short
- We assess both candidates for a sales role and managers already on your team.
- Tests are built around your product, your buyers and your sales model, B2B or B2C.
- The set of methods combines written tests, role-play calls, case tasks and a review of real calls.
- You get a report per person and a summary for the team: strengths, gaps and what to train first.
- The cost depends on the number of people and the depth of the assessment; we quote after a short call.
What a sales manager assessment includes
- Assessment profile. Together with the head of sales we list the skills and knowledge the role really needs, from cold calling to handling large B2B deals.
- Product and market test. Written questions on your product, prices, terms, target audience and competitors. We draft them from your materials and agree them with you.
- Sales technique test. Questions and short cases on needs discovery, presentation, objection handling and closing.
- Role-play calls. A manager or candidate talks to our specialist playing a typical buyer. We score the call against a checklist agreed in advance.
- Review of real calls. For current staff we listen to recorded calls from your telephony or CRM and compare them with how the person performed in the tests.
- Motivation and communication questionnaires. Used where they answer a concrete question, such as fit for cold outreach or for long account management.
- Group assessment or business game. For mass hiring we run group sessions where several candidates solve sales cases at once.
- CRM and reporting check. We look at how the manager keeps deals, tasks and notes in the CRM, since this shows discipline better than any interview.
- Written report. Scores, comments and recommendations for each person, plus a team summary with priorities for training.
When companies order an assessment
Most requests come in one of four situations: a new hiring round for the sales team, a drop in sales with no clear reason, planned training where the owner wants to know what to train, and a change of head of sales. In each case the assessment gives a baseline measured the same way for everyone. Random online tests and personality questionnaires used on their own rarely help here, because they are not tied to your product or sales process.
How the assessment works
- Brief and role profile. We talk to the owner or head of sales, study the product and agree the skills to assess.
- Test design. We prepare tests, cases and role-play scenarios for your niche and send them for approval.
- Testing sessions. Candidates or managers take the tests online or in person; role-play calls are recorded.
- Call and CRM review. For current staff we add real calls and CRM records to the picture.
- Report and debrief. You get the reports and a call where we explain the results and next steps.
How long does a sales manager assessment take?
In our experience, assessing a team of up to ten managers usually takes one to two weeks from the brief to the report. Preparing tests for a new niche takes the first few days, and the rest depends on how quickly people can be scheduled for sessions.
Hiring assessments run in parallel with your recruitment, so the timeline depends on the flow of candidates. Complex B2B products with long deal cycles need more detailed cases, which adds time to preparation.
What affects the cost
We quote after the first call, once the scope is clear. The price depends on:
- the number of candidates or managers to assess;
- the set of methods: written tests only, or tests plus role-play calls and call reviews;
- how complex your product and sales model are;
- whether you need a one-off assessment or regular re-testing after training;
- the language of the sessions and reports.
What we need from you
- A description of the product, prices, terms and typical buyers, or access to existing sales materials.
- The list of people to assess and a contact who schedules the sessions.
- Access to call recordings and the CRM for current staff, if you want them reviewed.
- Half an hour with the head of sales to agree the role profile and approve the tests.
What you get and how it is measured
Every person is scored against the same criteria, so results can be compared across the team and over time:
- an individual report with scores by skill block and comments from the assessor;
- a team summary showing common gaps and who needs what kind of training;
- a hiring recommendation for each candidate, when the assessment is part of recruitment;
- the tests and checklists themselves, which your team can reuse for re-testing.
Why hand the assessment to an outside team
An internal assessment often ends up measuring loyalty or seniority. The mistakes we see most often:
- generic tests from the internet that have no link to your product or buyers;
- psychological tests used on their own, with no connection to sales results;
- testing delegated to HR staff who have never worked in sales;
- no written criteria, so the result depends on who ran the interview.

FAQ
What is a sales management assessment?
It is a structured check of the skills, knowledge and habits of sales managers or candidates, using tests, role-play calls and reviews of real calls, with a written report per person.
Can you assess a sales manager candidate before hiring?
Yes. We build a short test and a role-play call for your vacancy and run them with shortlisted candidates, then give a hiring recommendation for each one.
What sales manager tests do you use?
A product and market test, a sales technique test with cases, role-play calls scored against a checklist, and, where useful, motivation and communication questionnaires. For current staff we add a review of recorded calls.
Do you assess heads of sales as well as managers?
Yes. For a head of sales we add cases on planning, team management, reporting and working with KPIs.
Can the assessment be done remotely?
Yes. Tests run online and role-play calls happen by phone or video, so we can assess teams outside Kyiv and outside Ukraine.
In which languages can you run the tests?
Ukrainian, Russian and English. Tests are written in the language your managers use with buyers.
