A penetration test is a controlled attempt to break into your website, web application or internet-facing systems the way an attacker would, under written permission and within agreed limits. You receive a report where every vulnerability is backed by evidence and comes with a plan to fix it.
In short
- We test web applications and everything reachable from the internet: websites, customer portals, APIs, admin panels.
- Work starts only after a signed scope letter: targets, dates, contacts, and what we must leave alone.
- Every finding can be reproduced, carries evidence, and is checked by a person.
- Fixed items are re-tested free of charge within the same scope.
- A fixed quote once the scope is agreed.
Penetration test, audit, or scanner?
An automated scanner lists things that look like vulnerabilities. Many of them are false alarms, and it misses a share of the real problems.
A security audit reviews how your systems are set up and sorts the findings by urgency: fix today, this month, or later. See the cybersecurity audit page.
A penetration test goes further: we try to get through each weakness and show what it leads to. The report lists only confirmed problems, with evidence.
What we test
- Sign-in and sessions: guessing and bypassing logins, password reset, the second sign-in step.
- Access rights: whether one user can see or change another user's data.
- Injection and input handling: SQL, commands, XSS, file uploads.
- APIs and integrations: what is served without authorization, extra data in responses.
- Configuration: exposed panels, leftover files, security headers, TLS.
- The external perimeter: which services and ports are visible from the internet and what sits behind them.
What you get in hand
- A report with every finding: where it is, how dangerous it is, how to reproduce it, and the evidence.
- A prioritized fix plan and a short plain-language version for management.
- A free re-test of the fixed items within the same scope.
- If you wish, we fix the findings ourselves or together with your contractor.
How the test runs
- Scope. A call or a request: which systems we test and which test accounts we need.
- Written permission. A scope letter with targets, dates, contacts and limits. Work starts only after it is signed.
- Testing. Inside the agreed window, with your contact person reachable throughout.
- Report. A technical report and a plain-language version.
- Fixes and re-test. We confirm the vulnerabilities are closed.
Timing and cost
Timing depends on the scope: the number of applications, user roles and internet-facing addresses. In our experience, a test of one web application usually takes from one to several weeks.
Cost: a fixed quote once the scope is agreed.
Who does the work
Security work is carried out by INNOVA CONSULT LTD., Corporation Number 1522612, Ottawa, Ontario (Corporations Canada). The team works from its own experience with strong tools, including Claude models, to find problems faster. A person checks every finding before it reaches the report. INNOVA CONSULT LTD has been approved for Anthropic's Cyber Verification Program (CVP), which lets verified organizations use Claude models for defensive cybersecurity work.
Penetration testing questions
Is penetration testing legal?
Yes, with the written permission of the system owner. We work only under a signed scope letter that lists targets, dates, contacts and what must be left alone.
Can the test take my website down?
We agree the targets and the time window in advance, and your contact person stays reachable throughout. We do not run load attacks or destructive actions.
How much does a penetration test cost?
A fixed quote once the scope is agreed. The price depends on the number of applications, user roles and internet-facing addresses in the test.
What is in the report?
Every finding with a description, severity, reproduction steps and evidence, a fix plan, and a short version for management.
Do you fix what you find?
Yes, ourselves or together with your contractor. Fixed items are re-tested free of charge within the same scope.
Which test do we need before launching a product?
Usually a test of the web application and its API with several user roles. We define the exact scope on the first call.
